This week’s featured Drink.Think writer, Rosie Schaap, is proof of the Hemingway-esqe adage that in order to write well, you need to get out there and have some adventures.
Now, you most likely know Rosie from her work as the drink columnist for The New York Times Magazine, where she writes thoughtfully about the pastime –and culture– of drinking.
But she has also been a bartender, a fortuneteller, a librarian at a paranormal society, an English teacher, an editor, a preacher, a community organizer, and a manager of homeless shelters. In other words, this girl has had adventures. She has some serious war stories to tell.
Her memoir, Drinking With Men, will be published in January 2013. Frankly, I can’t wait to read it. Come out to Casa Mezcal on Tuesday, Oct. 16 – we might even be treated to an excerpt from her forthcoming book.
